This is the second to last (or penultimate) post while being here in Norwich. That’s why I’ve decided to do it in English. And the subject is going to be my birthday, which was the 3rd of December. I was 19, an age that I like very much because 9 is my favourite number (3×3 equals 9, and every person who likes reading understands the magic of number 3). A lot of things happened that day, so many that I don’t know how to start, so many that I’m not going to be able to tell all of them.
The day before, Raquel, Simon, Sonia and Kiko came to my room at 11h 30 and were with me until 1 in the morning or so. The next morning I went to Norwich to buy some things for the birthday, very quickly because I had an appointment with Nerea on msn at 2. When I arrived home, I realised that at 2 in UK, it’s 3 in Spain, so I had arrived late and everybody was gone, except for Nerea, her sister and Alicia. Fucking change of hour. Why does England have to be different from everyone else? ¬¬ Despite that, they said ‘happy birthday’ to me (as well as LOADS of people on Facebook and Tuenti) and they showed to me the video that they’d done. It’s on Youtube (but it’s not public, which I hate) and it’s about Nerea, Alicia, Myriam and María (and Jaime at the beginning) speaking to me, acting like in the opening of Friends and imitating me saying “¡Ay dios! ¿Pero estáis locas?” (¬¬). It’s awesome, I’ve loved it ^^ <3
I was alone the whole day. My friends were preparing my presents and everything, so I had to buy the alcohol on my own ¬¬’ . At 9h they arrived while I was still getting dressed. They gave to me three postcards made by them which are great. The best one is the one that Simon did. It’s like if it was done by a kid, because we usually say that I’m the mum and they’re all my children: Raquel is Sally, Simon is Charles (my favourite, and he knows it), Kiko is Andy and Sonia is Samantha (she doesn’t like her name, but she has to live with it). In the postcard he has drawn himself (who looks as a cute cartoon), me, a panda bear, the Oyster Card, the bus number 25 and the book of Twilight on fire (<333333). He wrote some lines, obviously in English; Sonia and Kiko did it in Spanish and Raquel in Galician. My presents consisted of two Chinese chopsticks (because last time we went to a Chinese restaurant I was not able to hold them), animal-shaped frames with their pictures (which are still being printed), a T-shirt with a victory-gestured hand painted with the Union Jack, Union Jack panties, a pashmine, a picture of me with Flamenco outfit and a Peruvian hat (<333).
The birthday party was great. I had bought a lot of drinks so we all got a little tipsy. Ok, we got drunk. There were my flatmates (Cora, Moss, James, Matt, Aaron, Neli, Ryan, Ann, Josie, Claire…), my friends and some people that I had invited (Ellie, Karakostas, Martyn, Stella, Fabio…).
At the end of the party, Jacopo came, but we were already going to Norwich so we didn’t have much time to be together, because he had work to do and he couldn’t come with us. Anyway, he gave to me a cooking book with the most beautiful dedication ever, we said happy birthday to each other (his birthday is the 4th), he played the guitar for me (our first song) and then I left. I regret having left him there, but I suggested staying and he told me to go. Then, when I arrived at Norwich and I understood that I really wanted to be with him, I called him, but he didn’t want me to come back. Why????
Raquel was very drunk, so Simon went back to the campus with her. I went night-clubbing with Stella, Martyn, Fabio, a Lithuanian girl, Karakostas, Ellie and more people that I met. I ended up, I don’t know why and how, with six Cypriot people. They were all very nice and they even spoke English so that I could understand. When we came back in a taxi, they wanted me to go with them to the residence of one of them, but it was 6 in the morning and I wanted to sleep. And that’s what I did.
It has been the strangest birthday in my life.
